Team Welcomes the Chicago Red Stars to Yurcak Field for a 7 p.m. Kickoff

Piscataway, N.J. (July 6, 2018) – Sky Blue FC (0-10-3, 3 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, kicking off a three-game home stand against the Chicago Red Stars (5-4-7, 22 points) at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. The match-up gets underway at 7:00 p.m. ET, and tickets are available now online.

“It feels good to be back home in New Jersey after spending the past three games on the road,” said Denise Reddy, Sky Blue FC head coach. “We want to dictate the tempo from the start of this match, and we will be looking to attack on the front foot. If we are able to control our controllables, we should be able to come away with a result.”

Sky Blue FC returns home to Yurcak Field this weekend after playing three consecutive road fixtures. In its most recent outing, the team visited Rio Tinto Stadium for the first time, falling to Utah Royals FC by a count of 3-1 last Saturday night. Scoring the lone tally in the match-up was midfielder Carli Lloyd, who has now scored in back-to-back contests. The finish was her third goal of the NWSL season, which is tied for a team-high with Savannah McCaskill.

Chicago saw a four-game unbeaten streak get snapped this past Wednesday after being handed a 4-1 road loss by the first-place North Carolina Courage. Sitting on 22 points, the Red Stars currently find themselves in the fourth position on the NWSL Table.

Sky Blue FC will have to overcome a series of injuries on Saturday, with midfielder Raquel Rodriguez and defenders Jen Hoy, Amandine Pierre-Louis and Rebekah Stott already being ruled out. Forwards Michaela Abam, Katie Johnson and McKenzie Meehan are also listed as questionable for the match.

Saturday marks the return of forward Sam Kerr and midfielder Nikki Stanton to New Jersey for the first time since they moved to Chicago following an offseason trade. Kerr scored an NWSL-record 17 goals for Sky Blue FC in 2017, claiming NWSL Most Valuable Player accolades.

Tickets for Saturday’s match, which is Kids Club Night, are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849). The team is also offering a special Hat Trick Package where fans can save 25% off all three July home matches.
